Parking Options in the Town Centre and Near the Train Station
Hello everyone,
I’ve recently relocated to the area and am looking for advice on where to park if I want to explore the high street or catch a train to London for the weekend. From my research, it appears that Vicus Way offers the most affordable parking during the weekend. However, I’m wondering if there are any options for parking in the surrounding neighborhoods? I’ve noticed it can be challenging to find a spot around the High Street area. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Welcome to the area! It can definitely be tricky finding parking sometimes, especially near the High Street and train station. Here are a few tips:
Vicus Way: You’re right that it’s often one of the cheaper options for weekend parking. Be sure to check the hours and any restrictions that might apply.
Nearby Neighbourhoods: Parking can be hit-or-miss in residential areas, and it’s important to check for any permit requirements. Some streets may allow visitor parking, but make sure to read the signs carefully.
Other Parking Facilities: Besides Vicus Way, consider other car parks in the vicinity. Some might charge a bit more but can also save you time finding a spot.
Off-Peak Hours: If you can, try to arrive a bit earlier on weekends; parking spots tend to fill up quickly, especially during peak shopping times.
Public Transport Options: If you’re taking the train regularly, some people opt to use a park-and-ride service or even consider cycling if that’s feasible.
Local Apps: Look for parking apps that can help you find available spots in real-time, or even allow you to reserve a space in advance.
Hope that helps, and enjoy exploring your new neighborhood!
