Living Car-Free in Reading

I’m set to move to Reading soon and won’t have a car. I’m considering flats in the town center close to the railway station for easy access to London, Oxford, and more. However, I’m curious about the local public transport options. How reliable are the buses for getting around town? Do they take you close to major shopping centers like IKEA, Costco, and Tesco?

  1. Living in Reading without a car is definitely doable, especially since you’re choosing a location near the town centre and railway station. The public transport system in Reading, particularly its buses, is generally reliable and covers a wide area.

Buses run frequently and can take you to major shopping centres like IKEA, Costco, and Tesco. The journeys are usually straightforward, but it’s always a good idea to check the local bus schedules for the most accurate information. Additionally, Reading is quite walkable, so if you enjoy walking, you might find that some shops are within a reasonable distance from your flat.

Overall, you’ll likely find that getting around town without a car is manageable, and you’ll benefit from the convenience of being close to the railway station for longer journeys!
