A Night in Reading
I’m heading to Reading for work this week and will have just one night to explore.
What are some must-see attractions or activities? If I can wrap up work a bit early, I might also have the afternoon the next day. What would you recommend?
Reading has some great options for a short visit! If you have just one night and possibly the next afternoon, here are some suggestions:
Evening Activities:
Reading Abbey Ruins: Take a stroll through the historic abbey ruins, which are beautifully lit up at night. It’s a lovely spot to learn a bit about the town’s history.
Dinner at The Oracle: The Oracle shopping center offers a variety of restaurants by the river. You can find everything from casual dining to more upscale options. Zizzi, Las Iguanas, and Miller & Carter are popular choices.
Explore the Nightlife: Check out some of the local pubs or bars. The Purple Turtle and The Lyndhurst are popular spots with a vibrant atmosphere.
Next Day Suggestions:
Reading Town Centre: If you have some time in the morning, explore the market and do some shopping. The indoor market has great local produce and unique finds.
River Thames Walk: As the weather permits, consider a leisurely walk along the Thames path. It’s a great way to relax and enjoy the scenery.
Museum of Reading: If you like history, the Museum of Reading is worth a visit. It features exhibits on local history, art, and more.
Forbury Gardens: If you want a peaceful spot, the Forbury Gardens is a beautiful public park, perfect for a stroll or a quick picnic.
Make sure to check the timings for any places you want to visit to ensure you can fit them into your schedule. Enjoy your trip!
