Digital Train Tickets
I’m ready to admit that I might be the problem here, but every time I try to buy train tickets from Reading to London using Trainline or Uber, the only option I see is to pick up a paper ticket at the station. How can I get a digital ticket instead? Am I missing something?
Just to add, I typically purchase off-peak return tickets.
It sounds like you might be encountering a common issue with mobile train tickets. Here are a few tips to help you get a digital ticket:
Check the Train Operator: Not all train operators support mobile tickets, especially for certain routes or times. Make sure the trains you’re looking to book from Reading to London allow for mobile tickets. You can typically find this information on the Trainline or the specific train operator’s website.
Choose the Right Ticket Type: When booking, look for an option that specifically mentions “Mobile Ticket” or “e-Ticket.” Some platforms may default to paper tickets if mobile options are not immediately visible.
Download the App: If you’re using Trainline, ensure you have the latest version of their app installed. The app may provide mobile tickets more readily than using their website.
Select the Right Journey and Time: Sometimes peak travel times may have more restrictions. Try searching for different off-peak times to see if the option for a mobile ticket becomes available.
Create an Account: If you don’t have an account with the ticketing app or website, try creating one. Being logged in might unlock additional ticketing options, including mobile tickets.
Customer Support: If none of these options work, consider reaching out to customer support for the service you’re using (Trainline, Uber, etc.). They can provide specific assistance based on your situation.
Hopefully, one of these suggestions helps you get your digital ticket! Safe travels!
