Level 2/3 Survey Inquiry

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for some recommendations for local, budget-friendly property surveyors in the Reading area, as I’ve just had an offer accepted on a house!

Additionally, could someone clarify if a Level 3 survey provides significantly more detail compared to a Level 2, or is a Level 2 generally thorough enough?

Thanks in advance! 🙂

  1. Hi!

Congratulations on your offer being accepted! For local affordable property surveyors in the Reading area, I recommend checking out sites like Checkatrade, Trustpilot, or even local Facebook groups. You can often find reviews and recommendations from people in your area. Some well-known companies in the region include Savills and Knight Frank, but it’s always best to get a few quotes and see who fits your budget and needs.

As for the level of survey, a Level 2 survey (HomeBuyer Report) is usually sufficient for most properties, especially if you’re buying something standard. It provides a good amount of detail about the property’s condition, along with value and insurance advice. However, if the property is older or you have concerns about specific issues (like subsidence or damp), a Level 3 survey (Building Survey) may be a better choice as it offers a more comprehensive analysis.

Ultimately, it depends on the property’s age and condition. Good luck with everything! 😊
