Considering a Move to Berkshire?
We’re in our mid-30s, currently living in central London with a very young family, and we’re looking to relocate as we hope to expand our family. Unfortunately, upgrading to a larger house in London isn’t financially feasible. We own a 3-bedroom flat at the moment.
We’ve been exploring towns and cities with convenient commuting options for work that still offer a vibrant atmosphere, good schools, and ample green spaces. I’d love to hear your thoughts on Windsor and Maidenhead, as well as any other areas in the vicinity that we should check out. We’re planning to spend a week or two in the area soon to get a better sense of it. Thank you!
Windsor and Maidenhead are both great options to consider!
Windsor has a lot to offer, from its beautiful parks like Windsor Great Park to the historic appeal of Windsor Castle. The town has a vibrant atmosphere with plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafes. The schools in Windsor are generally well-rated, making it a good option for families. Plus, the commute to London is straightforward, especially via train.
Maidenhead, on the other hand, is a bit larger and has undergone significant development in recent years. It has a good selection of schools and is known for its green spaces, like Kidwells Park and the River Thames walks. The transport links are strong as well, with direct trains into Paddington.
Both locations offer a good balance of convenience and family-friendly amenities. Besides Windsor and Maidenhead, you might also want to explore Bracknell, which is becoming increasingly popular with families due to its excellent schools and newer housing developments. Ascot is lovely too, with a more suburban feel and excellent access to green areas.
Spending a week or two exploring these towns will definitely help you get a sense of the community and lifestyle. Consider visiting local parks, schools, and shopping areas to get a feel for daily life. Good luck with your search!
