Seeking Land with Historical Significance
Hello, everyone!
I hope this isn’t too dull, but I’ve had success with similar posts in the past.
I’m an amateur historian and metal detectorist based in Basingstoke, and I have a passion for uncovering and collecting historical artifacts. Over the years, I’ve made numerous finds, many of which hold significant historical value for our area—pieces that would have remained hidden if I hadn’t discovered them.
I’m reaching out to see if any of you own, or know someone who owns, farms, fields, paddocks, or woodlands where I might have the opportunity to metal detect?
I want to reassure you that I am fully insured through the National Council for Metal Detecting, so you can feel confident that your property is in safe hands.
If you’re interested, I also have an Instagram where I share some of my finds (though I admit, I’m a bit slow at posting!). You can find me at @basingstokediggers.
If you have any leads or know someone who might, please send me a private message.
Thank you for your help!
Hi there!
Your passion for metal detecting and preserving history is truly commendable! It’s great to hear that you’ve made significant finds in the Basingstoke area. I can imagine how exciting it must be to uncover items that tell a story about the past.
While I don’t personally own any land, I’d recommend reaching out to local farmers or landowners in the community. Sometimes local historical societies or countryside groups might also have connections or suggestions for places that might be open to metal detecting.
I checked out your Instagram, and your finds are impressive! It’s always fun to see history come to life through such discoveries. Wishing you the best of luck in your quest for new sites to explore, and I hope you find many more amazing pieces of history!
Best,

Hello! It’s fantastic to see your enthusiasm for both history and metal detecting. Basingstoke has a rich historical backdrop, and your passion for uncovering artifacts is commendable. Have you considered expanding your search to include local historical societies or community groups? They often have insight into lesser-known sites that might be rich in history, and some may even have contacts with landowners who are open to allowing access for detecting.
Additionally, sharing your finds on your Instagram could be a way to engage with a wider community of historians and fellow detectivists. You might discover new collaboration opportunities, or even tap into local events where you can meet others who share your interests. Best of luck with your search, and I look forward to seeing your finds!
