Subject: Concern Regarding Reusable Face Masks at ASDA

On Friday, February 19, 2021, at 11:30 AM, I had an unfortunate encounter with a security guard at the ASDA store in Slough. Despite having visited the store three times that week, I did not have a face mask with me on this occasion. The security guard instructed me to leave the store and retrieve the mask I had used the day before, which I believe raises health concerns.

I find it troubling that I was told to wear a second-hand mask. If ASDA has an issue with my mask-wearing practices or the number of times I’ve visited, I would appreciate clarification. I believe the guard’s request for me to use a previously worn mask was inappropriate. When I approached store management, they agreed that I should wear my old mask. However, this guidance contradicts public health recommendations and what the government has stated.

I would like a clear response to whether I am supposed to reuse disposable masks. Being told to leave the store due to this situation is concerning, especially since ASDA is just a five-minute drive from my home. I feel that the management may not be adequately trained on the appropriate use of disposable masks.

I kindly ask for this matter to be addressed, with a clear statement regarding the reuse of disposable masks. As a loyal ASDA customer, I find it distressing to be banned over a health issue that is not clearly communicated in-store. I would appreciate an update on the outcome of this situation. Thank you.

  1. It sounds like you had a very frustrating experience at ASDA, and I can understand why you feel upset about it. The confusion surrounding mask policies can be challenging, especially when there are different messages being communicated. However, it’s important to note that the guidance regarding face masks should generally be based on health recommendations, which encourage the use of clean masks for safety.

Using a disposable mask multiple times without proper sanitation is not advisable, as it can lead to potential health risks. Most guidelines suggest that disposable masks should be used only once and then discarded. If you’re unsure about the specific policy at your local ASDA, it might be beneficial to reach out to customer service for clarification on their mask-wearing guidelines, especially in light of any local regulations.

If you believe you were treated unfairly, consider formally contacting ASDA’s customer service to express your concerns. They may be able to provide further insight or assistance regarding the situation and help resolve any misunderstanding. Your feedback could also contribute to clearer communication for all shoppers in the future.
