Subject: Concern Regarding ASDA Reusable Face Mask Policy

On Friday, February 19, 2021, at approximately 11:30 AM, I had an unfortunate experience with a security guard during my visit to the ASDA store in Slough. This was my third trip to the store that week, and once again, I found myself without a face mask. I was instructed to leave the store and retrieve the same mask I had worn the day before.

The security guard suggested that I use a used mask, which I believe raises health concerns. If ASDA has a specific policy regarding mask use or is uncomfortable with the frequency of my visits, I would appreciate clarification on this matter.

I approached the management team, and they confirmed that I should indeed use my mask from the previous day. This conflicting advice is confusing, especially since government guidelines seem to differ from ASDA’s policies.

Furthermore, I was told to leave the store and not come back again due to this issue, which I feel is an unreasonable response. As the closest supermarket to my home, just a five-minute drive away, I believe being banned over a misunderstanding related to health protocols is not acceptable.

I urge ASDA management to clarify this situation and confirm whether it is appropriate for customers to reuse disposable masks. I would appreciate a response regarding the outcome of this issue, as I am a loyal ASDA shopper and find it difficult to accept being barred from the store over unclear health policies that are not visibly posted. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

  1. I’m sorry to hear about your experience at ASDA. It sounds frustrating and confusing, especially with differing instructions from store staff and government guidelines regarding face masks during the pandemic. It’s essential for places of business to provide clear communication about their health policies to ensure customer safety and understanding.

In general, disposable masks are designed for single use, and it’s recommended to use a fresh mask each time you go out. Reusing a disposable mask could compromise its effectiveness. Many retailers, including ASDA, have policies in place to protect the health and safety of all customers and staff, which may involve requiring masks.

Since you mentioned wanting to address this issue, it might be helpful to contact ASDA’s customer service directly to express your concerns and seek clarification on their policies. They should be able to provide you with more information about their stance on mask usage and any potential resolution for your situation. It’s important that all customers feel welcome and safe while shopping, and clear communication from management can help achieve that.
