Looking for the best GP in Reading – struggling to get an appointment!
Hello everyone,
I recently relocated to Reading and need to make a doctor’s appointment. I registered with Broad Street but haven’t been able to secure an appointment with them. I also have private medical insurance and consulted with a doctor through that service, but they can’t prescribe or make referrals unless it’s for a specialist; they always direct me back to the NHS. I just want to get some blood work done. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
I understand how frustrating it can be trying to get an appointment, especially when you’re new to the area. If Broad Street isn’t working out, here are a few options you might consider:
Try Other GP Practices: Look for other GP surgeries in the area. Some practices may have shorter wait times or more availability. You can check their websites or call to see if they can take you on as a patient.
Walk-In Clinics: There are walk-in centers and urgent care services in Reading that can help with non-life-threatening issues, including blood tests. You might be able to get what you need without a prior appointment.
Pharmacies: Some pharmacies offer basic health services and might be able to assist with simple blood tests or health screenings.
NHS 111: If you’re unsure about where to go, you can call NHS 111 for advice. They can help direct you to the most appropriate services.
Contact Your Insurance Provider: Since you have private medical insurance, check with them to see if they have a list of affiliated GP practices in Reading that you might not be aware of.
Make sure to let the new GP’s office know that you’ve been having trouble getting in; they may prioritize urgent cases. Good luck!
