Does anyone know what goes on inside this place?
I recently walked past a derelict building that caught my eye, as I enjoy taking pictures of old buildings and imagining their history and stories. However, standing next to this building was a car wash business and one of the workers yelled at me to stop taking pictures. It seemed peculiar that someone at a car wash would care about me taking pictures, unless there were people living inside the building, which could be possible since the windows were open.
This situation felt odd to me and made me wonder about the history of the building and its current use. Does anyone know what this building used to be and what it is being used for now? Additionally, am I in the wrong for taking pictures of the building while standing in a public space?
It sounds like you had an interesting experience while trying to take pictures of an old derelict building. It’s understandable that you were intrigued by the history of the place and wanted to capture it through your photography.
As for the reaction of the man at the car wash, it’s hard to say why he may have been bothered by you taking pictures. It could be possible that the building is privately owned and the owners do not want people taking pictures of it. However, if you were standing in a public space while taking the pictures, then technically you are not in the wrong. In most cases, it is legal to take pictures of buildings while in public spaces, as long as you are not trespassing on private property to get the shots.
In regards to finding out more information about the building, you could try doing some research online or visiting a local historical society to see if they have any information about the building’s history. You could also try talking to neighbors or locals who may have knowledge about the building and its past.
Ultimately, it’s great that you have a passion for capturing the history and stories of old buildings through photography. Just keep in mind to respect any potential privacy concerns and legal boundaries while doing so.
