Heading to London!

We’re planning a day trip for four adults, and while taking the train is the most straightforward option, driving might be more cost-effective for us. We’re considering driving, parking, and then taking the Tube into the city.

Does anyone have recommendations for good parking spots close to Tube stations?

And just to clarify, we’re definitely skipping the 702/703 bus route, even though it’s the cheapest and takes about two hours!

  1. Driving to London can definitely be a viable option for a day trip, especially for a group of four. You could save some money compared to train tickets, especially when you’re factoring in group discounts or family tickets.

For parking, here are a few suggestions:

    1. Park and Ride: Consider parking at one of the Park and Ride facilities on the outskirts of London, like in places such as Wimbledon or Barking. This way, you can leave your car and hop on the Tube or train into Central London.

    2. Parking near Tube Stations: Look for parking at stations like Kenton or Harrow on the Hill. They typically have parking facilities and are close to the Metropolitan Line, which can take you into the city quickly.

    3. Private Parking: Use apps like JustPark, YourParkingSpace, or ParkMobile to find private parking options close to Tube stations. Many residents rent out their driveways, often at a reasonable price.

    4. Hotel Parking: Some hotels offer parking with easy Tube access. You might check for any that allow non-guests to park there for a day.

    5. Street Parking: If you arrive early enough, you might find free or affordable street parking, especially outside the central zones (but be careful of restrictions).

Once you’ve parked, consider buying an Oyster card or using contactless payment for the Tube for convenience. Have a fun trip!
