Looking for a practice spot!
I’m on the lookout for an empty area, preferably a parking lot, where I can practice riding my motorcycle and work on slow-speed maneuvers around Reading.
Last month, I tried using the Decathlon/KFC car park late at night, but unfortunately, I got a fine as my license plate was caught on CCTV.
If you know of any well-lit areas (with a lamp or two) where I won’t risk being fined, I’d really appreciate your suggestions!
Thanks!
Finding an empty space to practice riding can be challenging, especially with the risk of fines. Here are a few suggestions you might consider:
Local Community Centers: Some community centers have large parking lots that may not be used in the evenings, and they might be more forgiving about riders practicing.
Retail Stores During Off-Hours: Large retail chains often have expansive parking lots that are empty in the evenings. Just be sure to check if they have any policies against using the lot for practice.
Industrial Areas: Many industrial zones have unused parking spaces during the evening hours. Drive through those areas and see if any lots are well-lit and empty.
Schools: Some schools have large parking areas and may be empty during evenings, especially outside of school terms.
Public Parks: Some parks have wide-open areas or nearby parking lots that may fit your needs. Just ensure you’re adhering to local regulations.
Check Online Forums: Local motorcycle forums or community groups on social media often have great suggestions for practice locations, as fellow riders might know of hidden gems.
Remember to remain polite and respectful if you encounter any property owners or staff, and always be aware of the regulations to avoid fines. Good luck with your riding practice!
