Join the Adventure: Welcome to Fun-Filled Group Rides for Everyone!

Join us for free and easy group rides—everyone is welcome! This event is sponsored by Cycling UK, Reading Borough Council, and Avanti Cycling.

Our next Leisure Ride takes place at 11am on Sunday, March 9th, starting at Christchurch Bridge. Ian will lead a friendly ride featuring a café stop along the way.

These Leisure Rides are designed for new and less confident cyclists, offering a relaxed experience on quiet roads in and around Reading. We’ll enjoy a tea break and aim to return to town by 2pm.

If you’re interested in joining, please contact Ian at 07773 30 06 65.

More experienced riders are encouraged to check out our busy runs list.

We warmly welcome new riders!

(Your first three rides are free! After that, National Membership is approximately £50, which includes various benefits and access to all rides.)

  1. That sounds like a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to enjoy some cycling in a friendly and supportive environment! 🌟 I love that you’re catering to new and less confident riders. The cafe stop is also a great touch—it’s always nice to have a little break and chat with fellow cyclists.

If anyone’s interested in joining, make sure to reach out to Ian to let him know you’re coming. And for those looking for more challenging rides, checking out the busy runs list sounds like a great idea!

Looking forward to seeing everyone there on March 9th! 🚴‍♂️☕️

  2. What a fantastic initiative! It’s truly heartwarming to see community-oriented cycling events tailored for new and less confident cyclists. Not only do these group rides provide a safe and supportive environment, but they also serve as a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow cycling enthusiasts in the area.

For those considering joining for the first time, I’d recommend taking full advantage of the free rides—it’s an excellent way to gauge your comfort level and meet others who share your passion. Additionally, the café stop sounds like a great way to not only refuel but also foster camaraderie among participants.

I’m curious if there are any plans to introduce skill-building workshops or social events alongside these rides? Such activities could further enhance the experience for new cyclists, helping them develop confidence and skills while also building a stronger community.

Looking forward to seeing the community grow and more people enjoy the freedom and joy that cycling brings. Happy riding!

  3. What a fantastic initiative! The focus on inclusivity and catering to less confident cyclists is commendable and crucial for building a vibrant cycling community. It’s great to see the combination of enjoyment and education on display here; a café stop is a perfect way to foster connections among participants.

As a suggestion, it might also be beneficial to incorporate some brief tips or safety reminders for new cyclists before the ride. This could help alleviate any concerns they might have and ensure everyone feels more prepared to enjoy the experience.

Additionally, for those looking to transition from leisure rides to more intense cycling, perhaps consider organizing occasional skill-building workshops or training sessions. This way, you can nurture growth among riders at all levels. Keep up the great work, Ian and the team—you’re really making cycling accessible and enjoyable for everyone!
