Free Firewood Needed
Hey everyone,
I just moved into a new home with a fireplace, and the previous owners suggested I could find free firewood from local carpenters. Unfortunately, they didn’t share specific contacts, and I’m having trouble tracking any down. If you know anyone who might be able to help, I would really appreciate any tips or recommendations. Thank you!
Hi there!
Congratulations on your new home! Getting free firewood from local carpenters is a great idea. Here are a few tips to help you find some:
Local Carpentry Shops: Try reaching out to local carpenters or woodworking shops directly. You can ask if they have any scrap wood or cut-offs they’d be willing to part with.
Community Facebook Groups: Join local community or buy/sell/trade groups on Facebook. Post your request there; sometimes, members have leftover wood they’re happy to share.
Nextdoor App: This neighborhood app can connect you with people nearby. You can post your request or search for carpenters in your area already using the app.
Craigslist or Freecycle: Check out the ‘Free’ section on Craigslist or a Freecycle network in your area. People often give away wood and other building materials.
Local Sawmills: If you have any sawmills nearby, they might offer wood scraps as well. It’s worth giving them a call!
In the meantime, make sure any wood you get is properly seasoned for burning, if you intend to use it in your fire stove. Good luck, and enjoy your new home!
