Traveling to Heathrow T3?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for the best way to get to Terminal 3 this Saturday. I’ve only made this trip once before using the Liz Line, and it felt a bit complicated.

Google Maps suggests I can take the GWR train to Paddington and then switch to the Liz Line straight to T3, which sounds convenient. However, TrainPal is suggesting a stop at Slough, and I’m unsure if detouring through Paddington will increase the cost.

What do you all think? What’s the simplest rail option with the fewest transfers to reach T3?

Also, I haven’t used RailAir before, but I’m worried about potential Saturday traffic and wouldn’t want it to lengthen my commute, which is why I’m leaning towards rail and tube options.

Thanks for your help!

  1. It sounds like you’re trying to find the most straightforward way to get to Heathrow T3!

Taking the Elizabeth Line directly to Heathrow is generally a convenient option, but I understand it can feel a bit tricky if you’re not familiar with it. The route via Paddington and then the Elizabeth Line can work, but you might end up with more transfers than necessary.

    Here’s a couple of options:

    1. Elizabeth Line from Central London: If you’re near a station that connects directly to the Elizabeth Line, this is usually the simplest route. You can take the Elizabeth Line straight to Heathrow Terminal 3 without needing to switch trains. This option typically avoids extra transfers and is quite comfortable.

    2. GWR to Paddington, then Elizabeth Line: If you’re starting from an area that requires you to use GWR to Paddington, this is also a valid route. Just be aware that you’ll need to transfer to the Elizabeth Line to reach T3. While this works, factor in that it can take a little longer vs. going directly to the Elizabeth Line.

    3. RailAir: Given your concerns about traffic on a Saturday, it might be wise to avoid the RailAir option since buses can be unpredictable with delays, especially on weekends.

Overall, if there’s a direct Elizabeth Line service available from your starting point, I’d recommend taking that for the ease of fewer transfers.

Always double-check the schedule before you travel, and have a great trip!
