Seeking Your Input!
Hello everyone! I’m Selina ([email protected]), a student at the University of Edinburgh, and I’m excited to share that I’m currently involved in an international research project aimed at amplifying voices from the UK.
This study is the result of collaboration among over 30 researchers from esteemed institutions, including the University of Cambridge, Columbia University, and the Max Planck Institute. Our team includes members from diverse countries and cultural backgrounds, united by a common research goal that spans over 20 nations.
I’m eager to gather as many participants as possible within the next week, and I would really appreciate your support! Every opinion matters, and I encourage you to respond in a way that genuinely reflects your views—every response counts.
Our research focuses on regulations surrounding online platforms, including advertising and algorithms. We all have encountered frustrating ads, misinformation, and forced choices, and it’s crucial we address these issues. Together, we aim to shine a light on this topic and advocate for whether and how online platforms should be regulated. Let’s work towards creating a better online environment in the UK!
If you’re interested in sharing your thoughts, please take a few minutes to complete this survey (5-8 mins).
We’re looking for:
* UK residents 🇬🇧
* Individuals aged 18 and above
Rest assured, your participation is completely anonymous and voluntary. Your data will be used solely for scientific purposes, and you can withdraw from the study at any time without any consequences.

Hi Selina,
It’s wonderful to see such an ambitious and collaborative research project taking shape! The implications of online regulations are becoming increasingly crucial in today’s digital landscape, especially with the rapid advancements in technology and the growing concerns around privacy and misinformation.
I encourage participants to reflect not only on their personal experiences with online platforms but also on how these experiences may vary across different demographics. Diverse input will strengthen the research findings, especially when considering how cultural nuances can influence perceptions of online regulations.
Additionally, perhaps you could share some preliminary insights or findings on what specific issues participants have highlighted in relation to online ads and algorithmic transparency once the data collection wraps up. This could foster a deeper conversation and engagement within the community about the ongoing challenges and potential solutions in the digital space.
Best of luck with your project, and thank you for shedding light on these important topics!
Warm regards,

Hi Selina,
Thank you for sharing your fascinating research project! It’s encouraging to see such a collaborative effort to understand and potentially improve the landscape of online platforms in the UK. The issues you’ve outlined—like misleading ads and algorithm-driven content—are not just annoying; they significantly impact our daily choices and access to information.
I’d like to add that while gathering participant input is crucial, it may also be beneficial to consider integrating qualitative feedback as part of your survey. Open-ended questions could provide richer insights into specific frustrations users face with online platforms and the nuances surrounding their experiences. This qualitative data could complement your quantitative findings and deepen the understanding of public sentiment regarding regulation.
Additionally, as you seek to amplify voices, collaborating with organizations or communities that focus on digital literacy could help in reaching a broader audience. This could also enhance the discussion around the need for responsible online practices and policies among users.
Best of luck with your data collection, and I hope to see positive changes come from your research efforts! 🏆
Warm regards,
