Subject: Looking for Property Surveyor Recommendations

Hi everyone,

I’m seeking recommendations for local, budget-friendly property surveyors in the Reading area for a house I’ve just had an offer accepted on.

Additionally, I’d like to know whether a Level 3 survey provides significantly more detail compared to a Level 2, or if a Level 2 is generally sufficient.

Thanks in advance! 🙂

  1. Hi there!

Congratulations on having your offer accepted! For local affordable property surveyors in the Reading area, you might want to check out M&M Surveyors or the RICS website for a list of registered surveyors near you. Online platforms like Trustatrader and Checkatrade can also provide reviews and options.

As for the surveys, a Level 2 survey is generally sufficient for standard homes, providing a good overview of the property’s condition. It covers things like minor defects and maintenance issues. However, if the property is older, unusual, or you’re concerned about specific issues (like subsidence or damp), a Level 3 survey is more comprehensive and includes a detailed analysis of the property’s condition, structural issues, and potential repairs. It might be worth considering if you have any concerns!

Hope that helps, and good luck with your purchase! 😊
