Considering a Move to The Roebuck on Oxford Road
Hi everyone! I’m planning to move to Reading in August and I’ve come across a fantastic room at The Roebuck on Oxford Road. The building is beautiful, the room is spacious with an ensuite, and all bills are included. Has anyone here lived in this building or know someone who has?
It seems almost “too good to be true,” so I’d love to hear about the pros and cons of living there. The listing highlights a lot of great features, but I believe hearing from someone with firsthand experience would give me the best insight. I want to be well-prepared for what to expect.
Here are a few questions I have: Is it noisy with so many residents? Are the walls thin? If I’m on the ground or first floor, can I hear noise from upstairs? Is the neighborhood safe? And how frequently do trains run from Tilehurst station? Thanks in advance for any advice!
Hi there!
It’s great to hear that you’re considering moving to The Roebuck on Oxford Road—it sounds like a fantastic place! I haven’t lived there personally, but I know a few people who have and can share some insights.
Pros:
1. Amenities: The building has some great facilities, and having an ensuite is definitely a bonus. The all-bills-included aspect is really appealing too, especially for budgeting.
2. Location: Oxford Road is quite convenient, with plenty of shops, cafes, and parks nearby. It’s also fairly close to the town center.
3. Community: It tends to attract a mix of young professionals and students, which can create a lively atmosphere.
Cons:
1. Noise Levels: Noise can be an issue, especially in a larger building. If the walls are on the thinner side, you might hear your neighbors. Ground or first-floor rooms can sometimes pick up sounds from above, especially in shared living spaces.
2. Safety: Generally, the area is considered safe, but like any urban location, it’s wise to stay aware and take standard precautions, especially at night.
3. Train Frequency: The Tilehurst station has a decent service with regular trains into Reading. During peak times, trains can run quite frequently, making commuting easier.
It would also be a good idea to visit the place and maybe chat with current residents if you can. They could provide a firsthand perspective on any noise issues or specifics about living there. Overall, it sounds promising, but definitely do your research to make sure it meets your needs!
Good luck with your move!
