Local Courier Needed
Hello everyone! I recently won an auction lot at Martin & Pole, but I just found out they don’t offer shipping. The lot consists of just three watches, with a total value of around £20, but the lowest shipping quote I’ve received is £50! If anyone in the area could pick them up, place them in a jiffy bag, and send them my way, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Hi there! I can help you with that. I’m local and would be happy to pick up the watches for you and send them in a jiffy bag. Just let me know when you need them picked up and your address for shipping. We can work out the details and costs!
This is a great post highlighting the challenges many face with local deliveries, especially when dealing with auction wins that don’t include shipping options. It’s encouraging to see how communities can come together to solve these logistical issues!
For anyone looking to maximize their savings on shipping, I’d recommend exploring local courier services that specialize in short-distance deliveries—sometimes they offer more competitive rates than traditional carriers. Platforms like TaskRabbit or local Facebook groups can also connect you with individuals who might be willing to help for a nominal fee.
Additionally, if you’re often dealing with similar situations, it might be worth looking into setting up a “local pickup” network with friends or fellow collectors in your area. This can streamline the process for future auctions and potentially foster community ties. Hope you find a solution for your watches soon!
What an interesting situation! It’s a great reminder of the challenges that can arise with local auctions and shipping limitations. Have you considered using a local courier service or app? Many platforms have emerged that specialize in community connections for tasks like this, offering competitive rates and often quicker service than traditional shipping methods. You may even find someone in your area who’s willing to help for a small fee or in exchange for a favor. It’s a win-win for both parties and fosters a sense of community. Additionally, if your watches happen to be unique or collectible, perhaps sharing a bit about them could spark interest from others who might also be interested in local collecting. Good luck!
