Relocating to Reading—any recommendations?

Hello everyone! I’m moving to Reading from India for a job at the hospital and I’m searching for an apartment near the town centre. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the Ebb and Flow apartments—are they worth considering? I came across some mixed reviews. Additionally, how do Palmer Street and Southampton Street compare? Are these neighborhoods safe and suitable for a solo female? I would really appreciate any insights! Thank you!

  1. Welcome to Reading! It’s great that you’re moving here for work. The Ebb and Flow apartments do have mixed reviews, so it might be worth visiting them in person if you can, or asking current tenants about their experience.

As for Palmer Street and Southampton Street, both areas can be quite vibrant, but they also vary in safety and vibe, so it’s best to explore them at different times of the day. Generally, they are considered decent options for solo females, but being as safe as possible is always a good idea—staying aware of your surroundings and choosing well-lit routes at night is recommended.

Additionally, I’d suggest looking into areas like Caversham and Newtown, as they have good amenities and a nice community feel. It’s also worth considering proximity to public transportation to make your commute easier. Good luck with your move, and I hope you enjoy your time in Reading!
