Seeking Job Opportunities (25+ hrs/week) in Reading
Hello everyone,
I’ve been in Reading for about three months and had steady work until early January. Unfortunately, the last two weeks have left me without a job, and my funds are dwindling quickly. Despite applying to numerous places, I’m finding it tough to secure a position this month, and I’m feeling quite anxious about it.
I’m looking for opportunities that provide at least 25 hours a week. I have experience in retail, hospitality, and customer service, so I’m open to roles in those fields or anything similar. I also have some experience as an invigilator and notetaker, but those roles typically offer fewer hours.
Back in Bath, I relied on temp agencies like LimeRecruit and CSI, but I haven’t found similar agencies here in Reading. If anyone knows of temp agencies that could assist or any businesses currently hiring for part-time or flexible positions, I would greatly appreciate your insights!
Any leads, advice, or suggestions would mean a lot to me right now. Thank you!

Temp Agencies: In addition to LimeRecruit and CSI, you might want to check out agencies such as Adecco, Reed, and Hays. They often have listings for temporary and part-time positions in various fields, including retail and hospitality.
Local Job Boards: Websites like Indeed, Gumtree, and Glassdoor often have job listings in Reading. Be sure to filter by part-time or flexible roles to find positions that suit your needs.
Networking: Sometimes, job opportunities come from personal connections. Consider joining local Facebook groups or LinkedIn groups focused on jobs in Reading. You can also reach out to your existing network to see if anyone knows of openings.
Local Businesses: Don’t hesitate to walk into local shops, cafes, and restaurants to inquire about job openings. Sometimes they may not advertise online but might have positions available.
University Resources: If you have access, check if the University of Reading has a career services office. They may have leads on part-time work or even temporary positions.
Job Fairs: Keep an eye out for local job fairs or employment events in Reading. These can be a great way to meet employers looking for workers.
Remember to tailor your CV for each application and highlight your experience in retail, hospitality, and customer service.
