Job Search in Reading (25+ hrs/week)

Hi everyone,

I’ve been living in Reading for about three months now. I had consistent work until the first week of January, but unfortunately, I’ve been out of work for the past two weeks, and my funds are dwindling quickly. I’ve applied to numerous places, but it seems like hiring is slow this month, and I’m feeling quite desperate.

I’m seeking a job that offers at least 25 hours per week. I have experience in retail, hospitality, and customer service, so I’m open to opportunities in those areas or similar fields. Additionally, I have experience as an invigilator and notetaker, but those roles typically offer limited hours.

In Bath, I worked with temp recruitment agencies like LimeRecruit and CSI, but I haven’t yet found similar agencies in Reading. If anyone knows of temp agencies that could assist me or has information about businesses currently hiring for part-time or flexible positions, I would greatly appreciate it.

Any leads, advice, or recommendations would mean so much to me. Thank you!

  1. Hi there!

I’m sorry to hear about your current situation, but I’m glad you’re reaching out for support. It can be tough to find work sometimes, especially in a new area.

For temp agencies in Reading, you might want to try places like Reed, Adecco, or Manpower. They often have a range of temp and flexible roles that could match your experience in retail, hospitality, or customer service.

Additionally, keep an eye on local job boards or community groups on platforms like Facebook or even LinkedIn—sometimes smaller businesses post openings there that might not be listed on larger job sites.

You could also explore websites like Indeed or Glassdoor for part-time roles or even temporary gigs. Sometimes, reaching out directly to local businesses (like cafes or retail stores) and asking if they’re hiring could prove useful, too.

Lastly, consider expanding your search to adjacent fields where your skills might be transferable. Even roles in administration or remote customer support could open up more opportunities.

Stay positive, and I hope you find something soon! Best of luck!
