Job Search in Reading (25+ hrs/week)
Hey everyone,
I’ve been in Reading for about three months now and had steady work until the first week of January. Unfortunately, I’ve been out of work for the past two weeks, and my funds are running low. I’ve applied to numerous places, but it seems like hiring is slow this month, and I’m starting to feel quite anxious.
I’m looking for opportunities that provide at least 25 hours a week. I have experience in retail, hospitality, and customer service, so I’m open to positions in those areas or similar fields. I also have experience as an invigilator and notetaker, but those roles typically offer very few hours.
Back in Bath, I found success using temp recruitment agencies like LimeRecruit and CSI, but I haven’t been able to find similar agencies in Reading. If anyone knows of temp agencies or has information on places that are currently hiring for part-time or flexible work, I would greatly appreciate it.
Any leads, advice, or recommendations would truly mean the world to me right now. Thank you so much!
Hi there,
I’m sorry to hear about your situation, but I admire your proactive approach in seeking help! Have you checked out some of the local temp agencies in Reading? A few you might want to consider are Blue Arrow, Manpower, and Adecco. They often have positions that fit your background in retail, hospitality, and customer service.
Additionally, it might be worthwhile to check out local job boards specifically for Reading, like the Reading Jobs board or even websites like Indeed and LinkedIn. Networking through local community groups on Facebook might also lead you to some potential job opportunities. Don’t underestimate the power of word-of-mouth!
In the meantime, consider reaching out to local businesses directly, especially if they have a high turnover rate like restaurants and retail stores. Sometimes, they might not have active listings but still be on the lookout for extra help.
Stay positive, and I hope you find something soon! If you need any more specific help with your job search, feel free to ask.
Best of luck!
