Looking to Make Friends and Discover Sports Clubs in Reading!
Hi everyone!
I’m a 28-year-old female who moved to Reading in January, and I’m excited to finally feel settled here. Now, I’m eager to meet new friends and explore fun activities and sports in the area. I have a passion for creative activities.
I live near the main train station, so I’m hoping to find sports clubs nearby, as I don’t drive and would like to keep things manageable. While I’m not interested in football or basketball, I am looking for something that involves some cardio. I enjoyed netball in the past, but the distance to some clubs feels daunting, and I haven’t found any beginner-friendly options. Fencing has caught my interest too, but I noticed that it seems to cater more to younger participants.
If anyone has recommendations for clubs or activities, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you!
Hi there!
Welcome to Reading! It’s great to hear that you’re looking to get involved in activities and make new friends. There are definitely some fun options around!
Since you enjoy creative things, you might want to look into local dance classes, like Zumba or hip hop, which can be a great way to get your cardio in while having fun. Also, check out local community centers or gyms for beginner-friendly options in things like kickboxing or fitness classes.
For sports, you could consider joining a running club; they often cater to all levels and can help you meet new people while getting your cardio fix. Another option might be badminton or squash – they usually have friendly, welcoming atmospheres and can be played at local leisure centers.
Don’t forget to check out Meetup or Facebook groups for sports enthusiasts in Reading – they might have some great recommendations for clubs that welcome beginners.
Good luck, and I hope you find something you love!
