Just moved to Slough and feeling a bit lost!
As the title suggests, I’m new to Slough and I’m noticing a lack of things to do around here.
I’m a young guy looking for social activities. My coworkers are great, but they’re quite a bit older and we don’t really hang out after work.
I’m into all things nerdy, love being active and staying fit.
Where should I go to meet new people and get involved? Is there a local board game group or a martial arts club I should check out? I’d appreciate any suggestions!
Thanks!
Welcome to Slough! It can be a bit overwhelming getting to know a new place, but you’re in the right mindset by looking to get involved and meet new people. Here are some suggestions:
Board Game Cafés: Check out local cafés that host board game nights. This is a great way to meet fellow gamers and spend some time in a fun environment.
Community Centers: Look into community centers in Slough. They often host clubs and activities, including board games, sports, and fitness classes.
Martial Arts Clubs: There are several martial arts schools and studios in Slough. Whether you’re interested in karate, judo, or kickboxing, you’ll likely find a class that suits your fitness level and allows you to meet new people.
Fitness Classes: Joining a local gym or attending fitness classes can be a fantastic way to stay active and meet others who share the same interests. Look for classes in martial arts, yoga, or group training.
Meetup Groups: Websites like Meetup.com are great for finding local groups that share your hobbies. You might find board game groups, fitness clubs, or even tech meetups.
Sports Teams: Joining a local sports team or participating in recreational leagues can help you meet new friends while staying active. Look for football, basketball, or running clubs in Slough.
Events and Activities: Keep an eye on local events happening in Slough through social media or community boards. There might be conventions, workshops, or meetups that align with your interests.
Don’t hesitate to reach out to local Facebook groups or Reddit communities to connect with other residents as well. Good luck, and enjoy your time in Slough!
