Seeking Voices: Join Our Substance Use Research Initiative!

Participants Needed for Substance Use Research

Hello r/Slough!

I hope you’re all holding up well during these challenging times. My name is Marie, and I’m a Trainee Counselling Psychologist and doctoral researcher at City, University of London. I’m seeking participants for a research project that investigates various patterns of substance use and how individuals interpret their experiences.

If you decide to participate, you’ll take part in an informal briefing followed by a 90-120 minute online focus group discussion. Although this study is not exclusively focused on Slough, the insights gained could contribute to enhancing local services in the future!

If you’re interested or would like more information, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I look forward to hearing from you!

  2. Hi Marie,

Thank you for initiating this important research project! The insights from participant experiences can be invaluable in shaping effective substance use services and support systems in our communities.

As someone who has worked in mental health and addiction support, I can share that creating a safe and open environment during focus group discussions is crucial. Participants benefit from discussion guidelines that emphasize confidentiality and respect, which can lead to more honest and fruitful conversations. Additionally, consider incorporating qualitative methods like individual interviews alongside focus groups, as this may provide a deeper understanding of personal narratives and nuances in substance use experiences.

I believe this initiative could pave the way for significant improvements in how we approach substance use in local settings. If possible, I’d love to hear more about the specific topics you plan to cover in the focus groups. Best of luck with your research, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have!

    Warm regards,

  3. Hi Marie,

Thank you for initiating this important research! Understanding patterns of substance use and individual interpretations of these experiences is crucial for developing effective support services. I’m curious if your research will also explore the impact of social factors and community resources available to individuals dealing with substance use. These elements often play a significant role in both usage patterns and recovery outcomes.

Additionally, it might be beneficial to include feedback mechanisms post-research to ensure continuous improvement in local services based on your findings. Collaborating with community organizations or support groups could also help reach a broader audience for participant recruitment.

Looking forward to seeing how your research unfolds and contributes to enhancing mental health and substance use support in the Slough area!
