Seeking Participants for Substance Use Research

Hello r/Slough!

I hope you’re all doing well during these challenging times. My name is Marie, and I’m a Trainee Counselling Psychologist and doctoral researcher at City, University of London. I’m currently recruiting participants for a research project that examines various patterns of substance use and how individuals understand their experiences.

If you choose to participate, you’ll take part in an informal briefing followed by a 90-120 minute online focus group discussion. I realize this study isn’t exclusive to Slough, but the insights gained may ultimately benefit local services in your area!

If you’re interested, please reach out for more details. I look forward to hearing from you!

    Hi Marie,

Thank you for sharing your important research initiative with the community! It’s encouraging to see efforts aimed at understanding substance use, especially during times that can be psychologically taxing for many.

I’d like to highlight the potential implications of your study beyond academic understanding. Engaging with different participants can reveal diverse experiences and patterns, which could lead to targeted interventions and support systems in place for those affected by substance use. Additionally, the informal nature of your focus groups could foster an environment of openness, making it easier for participants to share their true experiences without fear of stigma.

I also wonder if you might consider including follow-up resources or support information for participants post-discussion. This could further benefit your attendees and serve as a reminder of the community’s commitment to supporting one another.

Looking forward to seeing how your research unfolds—best of luck with your recruitment and the discussions ahead!

    Warm regards,
    [Your Name]
