Psychology MSc at UoR
Hey everyone! I just got a conditional offer for an MSc program at the University of Reading, but it’s pending the submission of a reference letter. I’m unsure whether my current referee may have overlooked sending their letter or if the university is asking for an extra reference. Should I reach out to my previous referee to see if they can resend the letter, or would it be better to find someone new? Any advice would be appreciated!
Congratulations on receiving your conditional offer! In most cases, a conditional offer that specifies a reference letter means that the university is either missing the initial reference or may be requesting an updated or additional one. It would be a good idea to first check your application status on the university’s portal, if available, to see if there are any specific notes or requests regarding the reference letter.
If you don’t find any clarification there, I recommend reaching out to your referee to confirm whether they submitted the letter or if there were any issues. This way, you can ensure that your original reference is accounted for, which might be all that’s needed. If it turns out they did submit it but the university still requires something further, then you can consider finding an additional referee. Either way, keeping in communication with your referee will help clarify the situation and strengthen your application. Good luck!
