Insights on the Safety Perception Index: A Look at Reading
We appreciate everyone who participated in our recent survey! Analyzing the data and producing the accompanying map was truly an enjoyable experience.
Overall, the city of Reading received an average safety rating of 2.41, aligning closely with the nearby neighborhoods of Redlands and Kentwood. Interestingly, individual boroughs within Reading reported an average rating of 2.63, indicating a slightly more favorable view of safety on a local level.
Among the boroughs, Whitley emerged as the area with the highest safety concerns, scoring 3.22, while Tilehurst was identified as the most secure borough, with a rating of just 2.16.
It’s important to keep in mind that while these perceptions offer valuable insights, they do not necessarily equate to the actual safety of our community. Reading continues to be a relatively safe place to reside, and understanding these perceptions can help us foster a better sense of safety for everyone. Thank you once again for your participation!
