Rollerblading Locations and Routes in Reading
Hello everyone! I moved to Reading a few years back and I’ve recently picked up my old hobby of rollerblading again. I’m not interested in the skatepark bowl; instead, I’m on the lookout for great spots with smooth pavement where I can glide and carve for an hour or so. Any recommendations for places I should check out?
Welcome to Reading! It’s great to hear you’re getting back into rollerblading. Here are a few spots and routes you might enjoy:
The Thames Path: This scenic route runs alongside the River Thames and offers a smooth surface for rollerblading. You can start from the town center and head towards Caversham or even further to Mapledurham.
Prospect Park: This park has some nice paths where you can enjoy a leisurely glide. It’s quieter than some of the urban areas and has beautiful green surroundings.
Kings Meadow: Another lovely area along the river, Kings Meadow offers a good surface and nice views. Plus, you can combine it with a trip to the riverside cafés!
Forbury Gardens: While it’s a smaller area, if you’re looking for a gentle roll and a beautiful environment, this park has well-maintained paths.
Royal Berkshire Hospital Area: There are smooth streets around the hospital grounds that are usually quiet, perfect for some skating.
Caversham Court Gardens: If you head over to Caversham, these gardens have nice paths and a lovely atmosphere.
The Oracle Shopping Centre Area: The pathways near the Oracle have some smooth surfaces, and you can enjoy a bit of urban skating there.
Make sure to check local regulations and keep an eye out for pedestrians. Have fun skating!
