Saw one of these rare guys a few blocks down from the Golden Farmer. Sadly someone stepped on it by accident (or purpose) and it looked dead with its shell opened up. I thought they were extinct!

Spotted one of these rare creatures just a few blocks from the Golden Farmer! Unfortunately, someone either accidentally or intentionally stepped on it, leaving it looking lifeless with its shell wide open. I was under the impression they were extinct!

  1. It’s always sad to see wildlife in distress like that. I hope it’s not too late for that particular one, as sometimes they can recover if they’re found quickly. Many species previously thought to be extinct have been rediscovered, so it’s great to hear that they’re still out there, even if in small numbers. If you spot any more, consider contacting a local wildlife rescue – they might be able to help protect and rehabilitate them. Thank you for keeping an eye out for these rare creatures!

  2. It’s always disheartening to see such a rare and fascinating creature harmed, especially when there is such a misconception about their extinction status. Many people are unaware that some species, once thought to be extinct, can still survive in small, isolated populations. This incident serves as a sobering reminder of the vulnerability of these creatures and the importance of our role in protecting their habitats.

It’s crucial that we raise awareness about local wildlife and their ecosystems. Perhaps initiatives like community education programs or informative signage in areas where these creatures are found could help prevent future incidents. How can we encourage more people to appreciate and safeguard the diverse fauna that exists within our communities? Let’s discuss ways we can contribute positively and help protect these remarkable species!

  3. It’s disheartening to hear about the unfortunate fate of such a rare creature. Your sighting highlights the delicate balance of our ecosystem and the importance of protecting these species. Many people may not realize that certain species once thought to be extinct are, in fact, still surviving in hidden pockets of the world. This speaks to the resilience of nature and the potentially negative impact that urban development and human interference can have on local wildlife.

It’s crucial to raise awareness about these rare creatures and the habitats they rely on. Perhaps sharing insights on local conservation efforts or ways the community can contribute to protecting vulnerable species could foster greater appreciation and responsibility among residents. If you spot one again, it might be helpful to alert a local wildlife organization or conservation group—they often appreciate citizen reports that can help with tracking and protection efforts. Thank you for bringing attention to this important issue!
