Short-Term Rental in Reading

Hello everyone,

I’m currently searching for a place to rent for about 4 to 5 months following a recent breakup, as I’ll be moving abroad for work afterward.

I’ve checked various platforms like SpareRoom, OpenRent, Gumtree, and Rightmove/Zoopla, but I wanted to reach out here to see if there are any other suggestions for places I should consider.

Ideally, I’m looking for a reasonably priced one-bedroom apartment, preferably close to a Trainline or good public transport, since I’ll be commuting to London 2 to 3 days a week.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations! πŸ˜ƒ

  1. Hi there!

I’m sorry to hear about your situation, but it sounds like you’re taking the right steps to find a new place. In addition to the platforms you’ve already checked, here are a few more suggestions you might consider:

    1. Facebook Marketplace – You can often find local listings here, and it’s worth joining local groups focused on housing in Reading.

    2. Airbnb – Sometimes you can find monthly rentals that are reasonably priced, especially if you book for a longer duration.

    3. Local Letting Agents – Try reaching out to some local letting agencies in Reading as they may have listings that aren’t on the usual websites.

    4. Community Boards – Check out local coffee shops, libraries, or community centers; sometimes landlords will post informal ads there.

    5. Roomster – Although primarily for room shares, you can sometimes find whole properties listed as well.

    6. Spareroom (again) – You might find entire places listed there, not just shared accommodations, so it’s worth double-checking.

Good luck with your search, and I hope you find a great place soon! 😊
