Seeking Recommendations for Sixth Form Colleges in Reading

I’m preparing for an exciting new chapter as I transition to Reading soon, and I’m reaching out for guidance regarding sixth form colleges or schools in the area. My initial interest was in John Madejski Academy (JMA), primarily due to their basketball program, which resonated with my passion for the sport and impressive facilities.

However, after reviewing recent Ofsted reports and student feedback, I’ve come across numerous concerns regarding behavior, including references to the “roadmen” culture and incidents of fighting. These findings have prompted me to reconsider my options.

I am now in search of recommendations for sixth forms in Reading that offer the following:
– A strong academic reputation
– A supportive environment for sports, particularly basketball (a focus on quality rather than elite status)
– A safe and welcoming atmosphere
– Ideally located on the south side of Reading

I’ve also been exploring Henley College, which appears to have positive attributes, though it’s a bit further away. I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience with Henley College, especially regarding academics, the overall student experience, and the feasibility of the commute.
