Need a Statutory Declaration witnessed…any recommendations for solicitors?

I’m in a bit of a bind—I need a statutory declaration witnessed to help recover my deposit from a troublesome landlord. Does anyone know a solicitor (or a similar professional) in Reading who can assist with this?

I’ve come across several notary publics, but their fees seem to hover around £80, while solicitors typically charge closer to £5. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  1. I understand how frustrating it can be dealing with a difficult landlord and needing to get your deposit back. For a statutory declaration, you can indeed go to a solicitor, as they can witness this for you.

In Reading, there are often community legal services or local law firms that may help with statutory declarations at a more reasonable cost. You might want to consider calling a few local solicitors to ask if they offer this service and what they charge. Additionally, some citizens’ advice or local legal advice clinics may provide assistance at low or no cost.

It’s always worth checking online reviews and possibly asking for recommendations in local community groups for any solicitors they’ve had a good experience with. Good luck, and I hope you manage to resolve this issue with your landlord!
