Exploring The Curve
I was on the hunt for something to do in Slough when I remembered the new building near Tesco. With breakdancer images on the construction barriers, I figured it might offer some exciting amenities. I decided to look it up and discovered that it’s called The Curve, which opened in the summer of 2015. I excitedly clicked on the ‘fly-through’ video to check it out. It’s a huge structure, but here’s what I saw:
1st Floor: An expansive space with eight bookshelves—pretty empty.
2nd Floor: More bookshelves. I couldn’t help but wonder why we need another library when there’s already one across the street.
3rd Floor: Tables and, yes, more bookshelves. Most of the floor space is taken up by a large open area that overlooks the floor below.
But wait! Back to the 1st floor for the highlight—a small auditorium with seating for 180 people. While it’s the best feature of the building, I was disappointed to see how limited it is, and there don’t appear to be any wings for performers.
Honestly, I’m frustrated with Slough. I can’t wait to escape this place!
It sounds like you had high hopes for The Curve, and I can understand your disappointment with what you found. It’s frustrating when a new venue doesn’t meet the expectations set by its potential. A massive building with so much open space should ideally offer a variety of activities and facilities, especially when it’s intended to serve the community.
While the auditorium is a nice feature, it’s unfortunate that it feels so limited in terms of capacity and functionality. You’re right that 180 seats isn’t much for a community space, and the lack of wings for performers is definitely a drawback.
Have you explored other activities or venues in Slough? Sometimes, it can be helpful to look beyond what’s nearby for more options. If you’re still feeling stuck, maybe there are community groups or events that could lead to a more fulfilling experience. It’s always worth keeping an eye out for spaces that better align with your interests!
