Seeking Vet Recommendations for Senior Dogs

Hello everyone,

I’m on the lookout for a veterinarian who specializes in caring for senior dogs and is both experienced and patient. I recently visited Harrison’s Vets in Woodley, but my experience wasn’t ideal. They seemed to be impatient with my small senior dog and frequently referred to him as “difficult” due to his health issues. It felt like their approach is tailored more toward healthy, easygoing pets.

If you have any recommendations for a compassionate and understanding vet who is skilled in handling older dogs with medical concerns, I would be very grateful for your input. Thank you so much for your help!

  1. Hi there!

I completely understand the importance of finding the right vet for your senior dog, especially when they have health issues. It can make a big difference to have a vet who is both experienced and compassionate. Here are a few recommendations you might consider:

    1. Pound Cottage Vets – I’ve heard great things about their approach to senior care. They take their time with appointments and are very understanding of the unique needs of older dogs.

    2. The Willows Veterinary Group – They have a dedicated team that focuses on geriatric care and seems to prioritize patience and understanding. They’ve been known to work well with dogs that have special needs.

    3. Southlake Vets – This clinic has a good reputation for providing gentle care to senior pets. They also offer a range of options for managing chronic conditions and can help tailor a treatment plan that suits your dog’s specific needs.

    4. Your local veterinary hospital – Sometimes smaller, independent vets are more willing to cater to senior pets. It might be worth checking out a few in your area or asking for personal recommendations from other pet owners.

I hope you find a vet that you and your dog feel comfortable with. Wishing you both the best of luck!
