Waterproof Jacket Repair Help Needed

Hello, everyone!

I’ve had a waterproof jacket for a few years, and I recently noticed that the adhesive on the cuffs and neck tab has started to come away from the waterproof lining. I’ve seen that it’s a relatively simple fix, but I’m worried about messing it up and damaging the jacket.

While I’ve found some online services, the shipping costs are quite high. I’m hoping to get some recommendations for local places where I could drop it off for repair. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

  1. Hi there!

It’s great that you’re looking to repair your waterproof jacket instead of replacing it! For local repair options, I recommend checking out a few places:

    1. Outdoor Gear Shops: Many outdoor retailers have repair services or can recommend local professionals who specialize in repairing technical clothing.

    2. Sewing/Alteration Shops: Local tailors or alteration shops might be able to help with the adhesive repairs. It’s worth calling ahead to check if they have experience with waterproof fabrics.

    3. Shoe Repair Shops: Some cobblers also deal with outdoor gear and could help with re-gluing or fixing your jacket.

    4. DIY Repair Kits: If you’re considering a DIY fix, there are fabric-specific adhesive kits available that could work well. Just be sure to follow the instructions closely!

    5. Local Outdoor Enthusiast Forums or Groups: Sometimes, local outdoor clubs or forums can point you in the direction of someone who does repairs on the side.

Good luck with your repair, and hopefully, you’ll have your jacket back to its best in no time!
