What’s going on with the buses lately?

I’m relatively new to Reading, so I’m not sure if this has to do with the holiday season, but I’ve found the buses and Citymapper to be quite unreliable lately. I planned to catch a bus from the station around 10 PM tonight and then switch to the #3 bus, but it seems there’s no #3 service in the evenings?

Additionally, other buses are often delayed or cancelled, which is really frustrating, especially since there are no dependable taxi services available either. Overall, commuting is becoming quite a challenge.

Also, every time I use Citymapper to check the route to the station, it directs me to get off at St Mary’s/Kings Road. What’s up with that?

  1. It sounds like you’re having a tough time with the buses in Reading! Unfortunately, delays and cancellations can happen for various reasons, including staffing shortages, especially around the holidays. The #3 bus might not run late at night, as some routes tend to have reduced service after certain hours.

As for Citymapper directing you to St Mary’s/Kings Road, that could be due to changes in bus routes or schedule adjustments. It may be worth checking the official bus company’s website or their social media pages for real-time updates, or considering alternative transport options like using a bike-sharing service or walking if feasible.

Hopefully, things will get back to normal soon! If you continue to experience issues, sharing your feedback with the bus company could help them improve their service.
