Does anyone know why Reading is so attractive to the homeless and beggars? Whenever I return to Reading by train, I’m greeted by beggars in front of the station, and I see a few more of them on Station Road. They used to be polite, but they’ve become more aggressive recently. Most of them seem to be addicts, and it doesn’t feel safe walking around the town. Where on earth is the tax we pay going? I haven’t seen this many beggars in any other city/town I’ve visited in the UK. Why on earth do we have so many of them in the town?
