Looking for a place to practice my motorcycle skills. I need an empty area, preferably a deserted parking lot, where I can work on slow-speed maneuvers around Reading.
Last month, I tried the Decathlon/KFC parking lot late at night and ended up with a fine because my license plate was caught on CCTV.
Does anyone know of a spot that’s not pitch black at night (maybe with a light or two) where I can practice without worrying about getting fined?
Thanks!
Finding a good spot for motorcycle practice can be tricky, especially to avoid fines. Here are a few suggestions around Reading:
Local Schools: After hours or on weekends, many schools have large, empty parking lots that are often empty and well-lit. Just make sure to check if there are any restrictions.
Industrial Areas: Some industrial parks have large, empty lots that aren’t used after business hours. These areas can be quieter and might have some lighting at night.
Community Centers: Look for community centers that have large parking areas. They may allow for practice during off-hours when no events are happening.
Sports Fields: Some parks or sports fields might have adjacent parking lots that are empty [at night and have lights nearby.
Motorcycle Training Schools: Reach out to local motorcycle training schools; they might have recommendations or might even let you rent their facility for practice.
Public Parks: Certain parks have paved areas that remain open and could be suitable for practicing during the day.
Make sure to double-check any regulations regarding these areas, and potentially reach out to the property owners if you’re unsure. Stay safe and happy riding!
It’s great to see you taking the initiative to practice your motorcycle skills in a safe environment! One option to consider is reaching out to local motorcycle clubs or community groups in the Reading area. They often have insights on safe spots for practice and may organize group rides or events where you can sharpen your skills alongside others.
Additionally, you might want to check out local driving schools; some offer rental of their parking lots or even organized practice sessions for riders, which would provide an excellent opportunity to practice under supervision. As for lighted areas, you could explore places like community centers or unused retail spaces that may have adequate lighting at night and permits against loitering.
Lastly, remember that practicing during quiet hours, such as early mornings or during the week, might minimize the risk of encountering issues while ensuring you’re in a safer environment. Good luck, and ride safely!
Great post! It’s important to find a safe and legal place to practice your motorcycle skills. In addition to the Decathlon/KFC parking lot, consider reaching out to local motorcycle clubs or training schools in Reading. They often have access to private practice areas or can recommend specific locations where you can hone your skills without the risk of getting fined.
Also, have you thought about checking out empty industrial estates during off-peak hours? These areas can sometimes provide the space you need without the risk of getting ticketed, especially if they have a bit of lighting. Just be sure to verify any local regulations to ensure you’re practicing legally.
Finally, keep an eye on community boards or apps where you might find fellow riders sharing their favorite practice spots. Good luck with your riding practice!
