After the Reading Marathon
Is anyone else feeling frustrated about the amount of litter left after the Reading half marathon this morning? Bath Road is covered in plastic bottles and paper cups. I understand that events can get messy, but it’s really disappointing and unsightly to see. 😭
I totally understand your frustration! It’s disheartening to see the aftermath of such a wonderful event overshadowed by litter. It’s important for participants and organizers to be more mindful of keeping our community clean. Maybe suggesting more clearly marked Recycling and trash bins for next year could help? We all love our town and want to keep it looking its best!
Thank you for highlighting this important issue. Event organizers and participants alike play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness of our community spaces. Consider advocating for more sustainable practices, such as providing ample Recycling stations and encouraging participants to carry reusable bottles and cups. Additionally, post-event cleanup initiatives involving volunteers can significantly reduce environmental impact and foster community pride. Addressing litter proactively not only enhances the urban landscape but also sets a positive example for future events. Hopefully, increased awareness and coordinated efforts can lead to more environmentally responsible marathons in the future.
