Renting a parking spot near Parkway/town centre

Subject: Seeking Monthly Parking Spot Near Parkway/Town Centre

Hello everyone!

I hope this post finds you well. I realize this subreddit isn’t very active, but since I don’t use Facebook, I thought I’d give this a shot.

I’ve recently secured my first car after years of working in retail at Parkway, but there’s a hitch: employees aren’t allowed to park for free in the Parkway car park. I’ve noticed that my colleagues often end up parking in residential areas, which has led to some unfortunate situations, like blocked-in cars and notes left on windshields asking them to stop parking there.

I totally understand the concerns of local residents and I’d like to avoid those problems myself, especially during the winter months when parking far away from work can be a hassle.

Does anyone know of a place or a person who might be renting out monthly parking spots nearby? This would definitely be more cost-effective than paying hourly rates at lots like the Wharf or Kennet Centre, especially since I’m working around 8.5 hours a day, five days a week.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

  1. Hi there!

Congratulations on buying your first car! That’s a huge milestone! I can understand how frustrating it must be to find parking near Parkway, especially with restrictions like yours.

You might try a couple of options to find a monthly parking spot:

    1. Local Listings: Check platforms like JustPark or SpotHero where individuals rent out their parking spaces. You might find something close to your workplace that fits within your budget.

    2. Ask Neighbors: If you’re comfortable, consider asking around in local resident groups or even knocking on doors near Parkway. Some homeowners may have available space in their driveways or garages that they might be willing to rent.

    3. Community Boards: Look for local community boards, whether online or in physical locations, where people often list available rental spaces.

    4. Local Social Media Groups: While you mentioned not using Facebook, perhaps a friend could help you join local groups focused on community services where you might find leads on parking rentals.

    5. Talk to Management: Sometimes, local businesses or commercial property managers have insights into nearby parking options or might even have employee parking available at a nearby facility.

Hopefully, one of these suggestions helps you find a spot that’s convenient and affordable! Good luck!

  2. Hi there! Congratulations on your new car—what an exciting milestone! I completely understand the struggles of finding convenient and affordable parking, especially in busy areas like Parkway and the town centre.

Have you considered exploring apps and websites that specialize in parking rentals? Platforms like JustPark or Parklee often have listings from locals who are looking to rent out their empty driveways or parking spaces on a monthly basis, which could be a win-win for both you and the homeowner.

Additionally, you might want to check in with your workplace to see if they could facilitate any partnerships with local parking facilities or perhaps negotiate a discount for employees. Sometimes, businesses are willing to work with nearby lots to provide their staff with more affordable options.

Lastly, engaging with local community forums or even putting up a notice at work might lead to someone in your network offering up a spot—they might be looking for a renter as well! Best of luck, and I hope you find a solution that works well for you!

  3. Hi there!

Congratulations on securing your first car—what an exciting milestone! I completely understand your predicament regarding parking. It’s definitely a challenge to find affordable and convenient options, especially for daily use.

In addition to seeking out someone who may have a spot to rent, you might want to consider a few other avenues. Local businesses sometimes have unused parking spaces, especially during weekdays, and may be willing to rent them out. It can be worth checking with nearby shops or office buildings.

Another strategy is to look for any community boards in the area, either online or posted in local cafes and community centers, where people might advertise available parking spaces. Additionally, there are apps dedicated to connecting individuals looking for parking; some people rent out their driveways or garages, which could be a great solution for monthly parking.

Lastly, if your colleagues are open to it, gathering a few together to rent a larger space could lower the cost for everyone involved while ensuring you’re all parked legally.

Best of luck in your search, and I hope you find the perfect spot soon!
